Bend radius – what is that?

Optimize your cables with the correct bend radius – extend lifespan and performance

Maintaining the correct bend radius is crucial for the lifespan and functionality of your cables. Learn how to avoid damage and ensure reliable performance with our practical tips.

The right bend radius is a key factor in preserving both the lifespan and performance of your cables. If cables are bent too sharply, it can lead to small cracks, especially in low temperatures, creating kinks and cold flow that may result in severe damage.

To avoid these issues, it is important to follow proper bending guidelines:

  • Generally, the bend radius should be at least 8 times the diameter of the cable. For a cable with a diameter of 35 mm, the minimum bend radius should be 560 mm.
  • During installation and final assembly, slightly tighter bends may be acceptable, but be aware that cables can be damaged if bent excessively back and forth during installation.

By following these guidelines, you can ensure your cables last longer and perform as expected.
