Anton isn’t accustomed to working with Nexans cables, so we paid him a visit to see how it’s going.

There are rumors that you’ve had a bit of an eye-opener.

Yes, I recently came from another job where we used a competitor's cable, and then I came here and got my hands on Nexans FXQ Easy. The difference was enormous. With Nexans, you save so much time because they are incredibly easy to strip and work with. Price is often a decisive factor when purchasing cables, but I’ve realized you can’t just go by that when the job goes so much faster. An electrician isn’t for free, after all!

Does it mean anything more than saving time for you as an electrician?

In this project, besides FXQ Easy, I’ve also used Nexans N-Line and Nexans FQQ Easy LED, which both come in practical packaging. Sure, you need to separate the cardboard from the self-rolling bobbin when the cable is finished, but it’s straightforward. The packaging is ingenious from a work perspective. The self-rolling feature of the cable is a lifesaver—no more tangled messes like with other options.

So, you’re mainly referring to N-Line, pre-wired cables?

Yes, the tangling issue is most noticeable when working with conduits, but even FQQ Easy LED is great with its all-in-one packaging that’s easy to carry and always ready to use in the van.

A Perfect Fit for Downlight Projects

And it’s FQQ Easy LED you’re using right now?

Yes, it’s perfect for a downlight ceiling like this and a real timesaver. You just roll out the cable, and if you pull out too much, you can roll it back in. The cable itself is impressive—it glides easily, is super flexible and soft to work with, easy to pull, and simple to strip. It’s approved for fixed installation, and you don’t need to use conduits for each downlight or strain relief, which makes the job quick and hassle-free. I’ve talked to my boss, and we’ve decided to use this exclusively for similar projects going forward.

It’s simply a perfect package.

Speaking of packages, if you could wish for anything cable-related from Santa, what would it be?

Haha, maybe a wireless cable? Joking aside, Nexans has really surprised me, so I guess there are things I haven’t even thought of yet. But right now, it feels like Nexans has already given me a Christmas gift that keeps on giving.
