Nexans launches conscious alternative: Nexans AML – 1 kV Power Cable

Jan 11, 2024

• 50% lower environmental impact*
• Recyclable thermoplastic insulation
• Low carbon aluminum
• Recycled plastic

TPI for easier recycling:
One of the prominent features of Nexans AML is its advantages in the recycling process. Thermoplastic insulation (TPI) can be remelted, unlike today's PEX insulation, simplifying recycling and reuse when the cable reaches the end of its life. TPI is the future material in the cable industry, and Nexans AML leads the way in this initiative. Additionally, Nexans AML has a content declaration embossed on the outer sheath, Lifemark™, which can facilitate the separation of materials for efficient recycling. This aligns with the circular economy by promoting reuse and reducing waste.

Environmental-conscious design:
Nexans AML represents a significant advancement in the sustainability of power cables, with a 50% lower carbon footprint* compared to an equivalent product (N1XE) in the market. The conductor is made with low carbon aluminum, significantly reducing carbon dioxide emissions compared to the European average**. The cable's outer sheath contains at least 45% recycled plastic material, reducing the need for new raw materials and minimizing the ecological footprint.
